THE DETAILS

Terms & conditions

Product terms for the bookmark-focused 1stTab. Last updated October 6, 2026.

About these terms

1stTab is a bookmark manager that works with Chrome’s native bookmarks. These terms cover the extension and its included documentation. The software is provided under the MIT License; these terms explain product behavior and do not restrict the permissions granted by that license. Mandatory rights under applicable law are not excluded.

Release status & roadmap

Version 2.0 is publicly available on the Chrome Web Store. Product previews on this website use sample data. Planned features, including Google Drive sync and sync between Google accounts, are not available in the local v2 release and are not a commitment to a delivery date.

Open-source license

The software is licensed under the MIT License included with this extension, with copyright © 2026 Ablotia. That license permits use, copying, modification, distribution, and commercial use, subject to its notice requirements. If these terms conflict with the MIT License concerning the software license, the MIT License controls.

Your bookmarks & responsibilities

You keep your rights to your own bookmark data. Use the extension and linked websites lawfully, and only import or share information you are entitled to use. Review the destination and selected items before moving, importing, or deleting bookmarks.

Edits affect Chrome’s native bookmarks and may propagate through Chrome sync if you enable it. Export backups before major changes. Undo and snapshots are recovery aids, not a guarantee that every change can be reversed. Imports and snapshot restores are additive and can create duplicates.

Data & privacy

The local library works without a 1stTab account. Local data handling, Chrome sync behavior, and any optional data transfers are described in the Privacy page. Opening a saved link sends your browser to that external website, which may collect data under its own policies.

Third-party sites & optional services

Saved links and sample bookmarks do not imply endorsement of the linked sites. Their content, availability, security, and terms are controlled by those sites.

In the optional integration package, AI organization and Google Drive backup require separate access and user actions. Review the disclosed recipients and data before proceeding. Third-party terms, usage limits, fees, and retention rules may apply. AI suggestions may be inaccurate; review them before changing your library. Disconnecting an integration does not necessarily delete data already sent to the provider.

Availability & changes

Features may change as Chrome, operating systems, and integrations evolve. Continuous availability, compatibility, or support is not guaranteed. Material product or data-handling changes should be reviewed in the current documentation and privacy disclosures. You can stop using the extension or uninstall it at any time. Export locally stored tags and notes first if you want to retain them.

Warranty & liability

The software is provided “as is,” subject to the warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability in the included MIT License, to the extent permitted by applicable law. These terms do not exclude or limit rights or liabilities that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.

Questions & support

For product questions and bug reports, use the project issue tracker. Do not post private bookmark exports, API keys, or personal information in public issues. The How it works guide explains daily use, settings, and recovery.
