THE NEXT CHAPTER · VERSION 2.0

The next 1stTab
is all about bookmarks.

Save.
Organize.
Find.

We’ve decided to focus 1stTab on one thing: helping you save, organize, and find your bookmarks.

The earlier 1stTab explored a broad new-tab dashboard, with widgets for different parts of the day. As we worked on the product, the bookmark library became the part we wanted to develop most. A saved link can be the beginning of a project, a useful reference, or an idea you want to come back to. It deserves a good home.

That is the direction of 1stTab v2. We’ve rebuilt the workspace around your existing Chrome bookmarks and the everyday work of keeping them useful.

What we’re concentrating on

V2 brings collections and nested folders, drag-and-drop organization, tags, notes, and favorites. Search helps you find a link by its title, URL, tag, or note. Filters let you narrow the library to a particular collection, domain, or favorite.

You can work in a compact list or switch to cards, resize the folder tree, and open the library in a new tab or Chrome’s side panel. A separate Settings page gives you five themes, light and dark modes, adjustable text and icons, and five card shapes.

We’re also keeping the practical parts close: local export, previewed imports, and duplicate cleanup. The local library works without an account.

What changes from the earlier product

The new release concentrates on bookmark management and features directly related to it. General dashboard widgets—such as weather, clocks, finance, and tasks—are outside the v2 experience. The old dashboard release notes and Plus promotions do not describe this release.

This is a product decision about where we want to invest our attention. It lets us improve a clear, useful workflow: save something good, put it where it belongs, and find it again when you need it.

V2 is coming soon

Update, October 9, 2026: V2 is now available on the Chrome Web Store. Read the launch announcement.

We’re preparing the bookmark-focused v2.0 release for the Chrome Web Store and plan to publish it soon. We’ll add the store link and launch announcement to this site when it is available. We haven’t announced a release date.

In the meantime, the product preview shows the new interface with sample bookmarks, and the guide explains how the workspace works. This website cannot read or change your browser’s bookmark library.

Next: bring your collections with you

Our next planned step is sync through Google Drive: an optional connection to keep selected collections and their metadata in sync across devices.

After that, we’re planning sync between Google accounts, so you can choose collections to bring between accounts you use while keeping other collections separate.

Both are upcoming features, not part of the local v2 release. They will need clear account choices, permissions, and controls over the data you sync. We’ll share availability and details as that work progresses. For now, native bookmarks follow Chrome’s own sync settings; 1stTab tags, notes, favorites, and settings remain local.

Help shape the next chapter

Tell us how you organize links, what gets in your way, and what you would like to find faster. You can suggest a feature, report a problem, or get in touch.

Thanks for being part of 1stTab. We’re looking forward to sharing this new chapter with you.
